I’m in this really weird place right now.
My 32nd year on this little planet is ticking by, and the “business” part of my mind is in full swing.
In the past I’ve always had a job, and I’ve always had multiple side projects going on at once. These projects were meant to keep me busy, but to also allow me to have some fun on the side.
A prime example is my fashion blog, Fashables. It’s been up for just about a year now and has had one, if not two, post each day. A team of contributors spanning from DC to NYC to Milan are involved, and traffic continues to build.
I’ve started a ton of sites over the years, but have never done so with the mindset of, “this site must make me $X by X date.”
As the days tick by, and free time seems to become scarce, that little fact, amongst others, is why I’m now shifting to more of a business than fun model.
Sure, I still plan to have fun, but it’s time to make some things happen and make some of the knowledge floating around in my head make some additional income. That is, above and beyond my day job.
You’d probably freak if you saw the amount of ideas floating around in my head, but it’s time to wrangle them together, toss out the bad and take action for the good.
I’m an entrepreneur at heart, and it’s time to see where that takes me. I guess, in a way, you might say my New Year’s Resolution is already written.
