During a Twitter chat session about social media earlier this week, two things became very clear:
- Marketers have a large desire to utilize social media
- Most of those folks are very uncertain as to what the content should be
That second bullet is a pretty large problem. If someone came to me and asked, “What should we post on our blog, Facebook and Twitter?” my first response would be, “What is your strategy?”
If you’ve jumped head first into social media, but can’t answer my strategy question – please stop your efforts and figure out what your strategy is.
Not having a strategy is reckless and will likely result in less than desirable results. Once you have a strategy you’ll have a better understanding of what your content should include.
