The question about how to get a Verified Twitter account is something that comes up quite often.
I’ve heard all kinds of answers, but in reality, there are only two.
- To get a verified account you’ll need to be a public figure or someone of importance that Twitter wouldn’t want to have represented via a bogus account.
- And for the rest of us, you have to advertise. Simple as that.
Currently, the minimum spend on Twitter to get a Verified account is $5,000. The process requires you to complete an insertion order (IO), a Twitter ad buy, and then request to have the Verified Twitter badge added to your profile.
BUT, that will be changing.
In the coming days Twitter will roll out a self-serve advertising platform. Self-serve campaigns will be similar to Facebook advertising in that you’ll set up campaigns using a credit card.
When the self-serve Twitter advertising platform is implemented, the insertion order (this means you get an ad rep) buy will continue to have a minimum commitment of $5,000 per month, but it will now have a 3-month minimum ($15,000). Meaning, you’ll have to spend $15,000 to get a Verified bade.
