One thing people have praised about Google+ is that there are no ads.
Great. It doesn’t have any of those pesky ads similar to the ones on Facebook that help brands promote pages.
Yea… you see the problem?
Google+ needs to create a way for brands to promote their pages to active users on the site.
It’s really a double edge sword in my eyes.
I would not tell a brand to promote Google+ on another social network because it could damage what’s already been created, and also devalues the funds spent on previous networks.
I’m also very cautious about promoting Google+ on a brands website. Why? If the active user base is low, the following for the brand could also end up being low compared to other networks, and that could be perceived as a negative, or for lack of better words, lack of popularity.
Like it or not, Google+ needs ads, or some other way for brands to be promoted to the active user base. And no, coming up in that wildly random and annoying (list doesn’t refresh after following) suggested user list doesn’t count.
