There’s tons of hype about Google Plus right now and the phrase “Facebook killer” has become as annoying as “social media expert.”
I’m curious though.
Why are people only looking at Facebook?
There’s that other network… you know, the one that just had a huge IPO – LinkedIn – that we should also be looking at.
Thus far Google Plus seems to have combined elements of both Facebook and Twitter, and been highly acclaimed by many in the business community, especially those working in public relations, marketing, technology and new media.
Noticeably missing from the last sentence, and potentially a problem when it comes to taking ground from Facebook, is the word “consumer.”
With a few tweaks here and there, and a few additions, Google Plus could quickly prove to be more versatile in many areas than LinkedIn and provide high value for the business community.
It’s fast. It allows fast social collaboration. It can connect a ton of different Google products related to business. Those three things could potentially be the starting ingredients for a dish called Trouble for LinkedIn.
And hey, LinkedIn’s CEO is already stating that people might not have enough time for another social network. Some might call that an early offensive.
This of course is all speculation, which is part of why the digital world is so much fun. Now, if I can get my crystal ball to work again we’ll take that speculation word right out of the equation.
