Facebook Landing Pages & FBML – a Quick Guide

by Ryan Shell on July 29, 2010

I’ve been working on several projects that have required some competitive analysis, part of which has included visiting Facebook pages for various organizations.

One trend that I’ve noticed over and over has to do with two things that frequently get searched for on this site: Facebook landing pages and FBML. That being said I’d like to highlight a couple key posts for you.

Facebook Landing Pages

This post explains the importance of having a Facebook landing page and provides two examples for you to look at. From the post,

“When I go to your Facebook page what are you telling me? For a lot of brands the answer to that question is “absolutely nothing.” You typically get dropped off at the “Wall” and read comments random fans have left, which I consider to be a bit dangerous.”

FBML

The first step in creating a Facebook landing page is adding FBML to your page. By the way, if you aren’t up on the lingo FBML stand for Facebook Markup Language.

Here’s a quick step-by-step guide that explains how to add the FBML application to your Facebook page – the guide also explains how you can add a graphic to your landing page once the FBML application is in place.

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you find those quick bits of information to be helpful.
